accessible. When this setting
is Off, secret entries are not
displayed on the screen.

1 Display the phonebook entry
you want to keep secret.
2 Select the secret setting icon
and press O.

Setting your own code
The phone's security code is
essential to protect your phone
from unauthorised use or to avoid
accidental operation. At the time
of purchase the security code is
set to "9999". We strongly advise
you to change the initial security
code to one of your own choosing
to keep your secret data secure in
case the phone is lost or stolen.
Keep your new security code
secret and if you make a note of it,
store that in a safe place separate
from your phone.
1 Open the Change Handset
Code display.
• Press O →
→ Security
→ Change Handset Code
2 Select YES and press O.
3 Enter your security code
(initially 9999).
4 Enter a new 4-digit security
code and press O. Your
security code is changed.
Setting your own PIN code
This function enables you to
change the preset PIN. SIM/USIM
cards that are sold with a preset
PIN. You can use the card with the
preset PIN. However, it is recom-
mended that you change it to a
PIN you have chosen yourself to
protect the card from unautho-
rized use. There are two types of
PIN codes, the PIN1 Code and the
PIN2 Code. The PIN1 Code is
used for locking use of the SIM/
USIM card while the PIN2 code is
used for restricting some network
services.
Settings
1 Open the PIN display.
• Press O →
→ Security
→ PIN
2 Select Change PIN and press
O.
3 Select PIN1 or PIN2 and press
O.
4 Enter the current PIN code and
press O.
5 Enter your new PIN code and
press O.
6 Enter your new PIN code again
to confirm and press O.
PIN Entry
If this is set to On, you will be
asked to enter the PIN every time
you turn the phone on. Con-
versely, if it is set to Off, PIN entry
will not be requested any time you
turn the phone on.
