Variable frame rate (VFR) recording function/super slow recording function

It is possible to acquire smooth slow motion or quick motion vide by shooting with a different frame rate from the frame rate to play back.

Variable frame rate (VFR)

Allows the high-speed shooting from 1fps to maximum of 60fps.

In the [SYSTEM] menu → [FREQUENCY]/[FILE FORMAT]/[REC FORMAT], select the resolution and codec for recording video and
the frequency for the reference frame rate.
f For the combinations that can be set, refer to "Selecting the resolution, codec, and frame rate for recording video" (page 113).
The range of the frame rate that can perform high-speed shooting differs depending on the setting.

Select the [SCENE FILE] menu → [VFR] → [ON].
f This can also be set even with the USER button. Refer to "Functions assigned to USER buttons" (page 51).

Set the frame rate in accordance with the shooting condition in the [SCENE FILE] menu → [FRAME RATE].
f This can also be set with the multi manual function. Refer to "Multi manual function" (page 139).

Press the REC button.
Variable frame rate recording is started.

Super slow

This allows high-speed shooting of 120fps/100fps.

Select the [SYSTEM] menu → [SUPER SLOW] → [ON].
f This can also be set even with the USER button.
Refer to "Functions assigned to USER buttons" (page 51).

Press the REC button.
Super slow recording starts.

NOTE
t Audio cannot be recorded with the variable frame rate recording and super slow recording. However, audio is also recorded if the frame rate same as
the recording frame frequency of [REC FORMAT] is set when using variable frame rate recording.
t The screen may be disrupted or become dark when the frame rate setting is changed.
t The frame rate cannot be changed while recording.
t The [RECORDING] menu → [TC/UB] → [FREE/REC RUN] is fixed to [REC RUN].
t The recording is paused when ten hours has past from the time the recording was started. The recording is automatically resumed after few seconds.
When performing high-speed shooting, the recording time will be shorter than 10 hours depending on the ratio of the frame rate of the recording
format and the variable frame rate. The recording will stop in 5 hours when the recording frame frequency of [REC FORMAT] is set to 23.98p and the
[SCENE FILE] menu → [FRAME RATE] is set to [48fps].
t For recording limitations of variable frame rate recording or super slow recording, refer to "Recording function that cannot be used simultaneously"
(page 190).
t It may take time to stop recording even if recording is stopped right after recording is started.
When the recording frame frequency of [REC FORMAT] is set to 59.94p and the [SCENE FILE] menu → [FRAME RATE] is set to [1fps], recording is
continued for a maximum of one minute until the length of the clip after shooting becomes one second.
