R-380 DC System

ASSEMBLE

WARNING
This section is one section of a complete service
manual. Before starting any procedure, read all
warnings and instructions that are located in the
Service Guidelines chapter.
1: Lightly lubricate the bearing bore and press a
new bearing into the rear end cap and install the
retainer.
2: Press a bearing onto the front armature shaft.
3: Install the two brush assemblies so that the
brushes are just far enough out of the brush
holder that the brush springs hold them in place
away from the commutator.
4: Press the armature into the rear motor bearing.
5: Push each brush into the holder making sure
the brush spring is positioned correctly. See
illustration.
6: Install the field housing onto the rear end cap
aligning with it the marks made when it was
removed.
7: If needed, install a new seal in the front end cap.
Lightly grease the seal lip.
8: Lightly lubricate the bearing bore in the front
housing.
9: Place the wavy washer on top of the front
armature bearing.
10: Place the end cap on top of the bearing and lightly
tap into place with soft faced hammer.
11: Align the end cap using the marks made during
disassembly and install the bolts.
