Engine Mounts - Inspect

Note: The breather had an indicator (7). If the
indicator is operated then the filter element must be
replaced. The indicator will need to be reset. Remove
the plastic cover and push down the red indicator.
Install the plastic cover.
Open Breather
The open breather may be installed on some engine
applications. Ensure that breather hose assembly is
installed correctly. Ensure that the breather hose is
not damaged or restricted.
Engine Mounts - Inspect
Note: The engine mounts may not have been
supplied by Perkins. Refer to the OEM information
for further information on the engine mounts and the
correct bolt torque.
Inspect the engine mounts for deterioration and for
correct bolt torque. Engine vibration can be caused
by the following conditions:
Incorrect mounting of the engine
Deterioration of the engine mounts
Loose engine mounts
Any engine mount that shows deterioration should
be replaced. Refer to the OEM information for the
recommended torques.

Engine Oil Level - Check

Hot oil and hot components can cause personal
injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to
contact the skin.

Perform this maintenance with the engine stopped.
Note: Ensure that the engine is either level or that

the engine is in the normal operating position in order
to obtain a true level indication.
Note: After the engine has been switched OFF, wait
for ten minutes in order to allow the engine oil to drain
to the oil pan before checking the oil level.
1. Maintain the oil level between the "Low" mark (Y)
and the "High" mark (X) on the engine oil dipstick.
Do not fill the crankcase above the "High" mark
(X).
