Sending an LL request for the position of a buddy
The latitude and longitude request (LL request) function allows
you to send a DSC request to an MMSI on your buddy list and the
response will contain the current latitude and longitude position
of the other vessel. In this way, you can check the location of your
buddy. This is also known as a "polled position request. "
¼ Note:
You must first set up details of your buddy in the buddy list
(see "Buddy list setup" on page 86).
Press DSC MENU → LL REQUEST.
1.
2.
Select the buddy whose LL position you want to request.
3.
When the "SEND?" prompt appears, press [OK] to send the LL
request.
4.
If the buddy radio responds with a position, the RS90S beeps:
Press the [SILENC] softkey to silence the alert.
Press ▲ or ▼ to view the LL information received.
5.
If there is no reply within 30 seconds, the display shows: "SEND
AGAIN?"
You can then select:
[YES] to send again, or
[NO] to quit and return to standby mode.
