SAS ports
SAS ports are used to connect the expansion canister to the node canister or to an extra
expansion canister in the chain. Figure 12-17 shows the SAS ports that are on the expansion
canister.

Each port has two LEDs that display the status of its activity. Their meanings are shown in
Table 12-5.

Meaning
One of the following errors exists:
Only 1, 2, or 3 lanes (phys) have a connection.
Not all of the lanes (phys) that have a
connection are running at the same speed.
Not all of the lanes (phys) that have a
connection are attached to the same address.
An unsupported device is connected to the port.
No fault exists. All four lanes (phys) have a
connection.
A connection exists on at least one lane (phy).
No connection exists on any lane (phy).
