INSTALLING THE FIREBOX

There are two options of fixing the firebox into the fire
opening/fireplace surround.
Option 1 - Front Fixing
Offer the firebox into the opening ensuring that the supply
pipe is correctly positioned. When the firebox is in the
intended position of installation make a mark through the
holes indicated on Fig. 2. Carefully remove the firebox and
drill and plug the fireplace where previously marked using a
correctly sized masonry bit and the fibre plugs supplied.
Re-position the firebox into the fireplace and secure using 4
woodscrews, tightening to seal the firebox to the fireplace.
Option 2 - Cable Fixing
Using Fig. 3, mark out the four positions indicated on the
back of the fire opening. Drill each mark using a suitable
masonry bit and fit the fibre plugs supplied. Securely screw
the eye bolts into the plugs
Position the firebox in front of the fire opening, allowing
enough space behind the appliance for access to the fire
opening and fitting of the cables. At this stage, if a
concealed gas connection is required, feed the supply pipe
through the hole at the bottom at the rear of the firebox.
Locate the holes to the sides of the convection channel and
fit the cables as shown in Fig. 4. Give the cables a sharp
pull so that they grip the firebox.
Thread the cables through the top eye bolts, then the bottom
eyebolts, and then feed them into the holes at the bottom of
the back face of the fire box (see Fig. 5).
Reposition the firebox into the opening and push against the
fireplace ensuring a seal against the foam strips on the rear of
the firebox flanges. Fit a cable retainer over each cable and,
pulling the cables taught, push the retainers into the holes that
the cables run through. Tighten the screws in the cable
retainers so that they clamp onto the cables. Hand turn the
adjustment screws on the retainers to apply tension to the cables.
