Could you have made Key Control settings?
Is the Master Tune setting appropriate?
Could the [BALANCE] knob be set all the way toward "SONG"?
Could you have switched sound tabs in the main screen?
INSTRUMENT buttons [1] [2] [3] also operate as buttons that select
"Recommended Tones" or "User Tones."
If you select the <Recommend> tab in the main screen, these buttons are
automatically assigned instrumental sounds that are appropriate for the song.
You can press instrument buttons [1] [2] [3] to select these recommended
tones.
If you select the <User> tab in the main screen, you can assign your own
choice of sounds to these buttons.
Could you have pressed the [DRUMS] button to play drum sounds?
If the [DRUMS] button's indicator is lit, the white keys C2–B3 will play drum
sounds. The black keys C 2–B 3 will play sound effects, and the C4–C8
keys will play the sounds they were playing before you pressed the [DRUMS]
button.
If the [DRUMS] button is lit, A0–B1 will not produce sound.
The VIMA's piano sound faithfully simulates the depth and resonance of an
acoustic piano, and this may give the impression of reverberation even if
you've defeated the Reverb effect.
Could you have pressed a D Beam button, causing it to start blinking?
If a D Beam button is blinking, moving your hand above the D Beam controller
will play a sound effect.
On an acoustic piano, the approximately one and a half octaves of notes at
the top of the keyboard will continue sounding regardless of the damper
pedal. These notes also have a somewhat different tonal character. VIMA
faithfully simulate this characteristic of acoustic pianos. On the VIMA, the
range that is unaffected by the damper pedal will change according to the key
control setting.
If you hear this in headphones:
Piano sounds that have a brilliant and crisp character contain substantial high-
frequency components that may sound as though a metallic ringing has been
added. This is because the character of an actual piano is being faithfully
reproduced, and is not a malfunction. This ringing is more obtrusive if the
reverb effect is applied heavily, so you may be able to minimize it by
decreasing the reverb.
If you don't hear this in headphones:
It is likely that there is some other reason (such as resonances within the unit).
