When using an external power source, the master swi t ch must be in
the OFF posi t ion before connecti n g the external power source to the
airplane receptacle. See Section
cl e for external power source operati o ns.
Col d weather starting procedures are the same as the normal
starti n g procedures. Use caution to prevent inadvertent forward
movement of the airpl a ne during starti n g when parked on snow or
i c e.
If the engine does not start duri n g the fi r st few attempts, or
engine fi r i n g dimini s hes in strength, i t i s probabl e that the
spark plugs have been frosted over. Preheat must be used
before another start i s attempted.
Duri n g col d weather operati o ns, no indicati o n will be apparent on
the oil temperature gage pri o r to takeoff if outsi d e air temperatures
are very col d . After a sui t abl e warm up peri o d (2 to
RPM), accelerate the engine several times to hi g her engine
RPM. If the engine accelerates smoothly and the oil pressure re­
