Position the other half
of
the blower hous-
ing
over
the blower wheel aligning the four
screw
holes in
the
two housing halves.
Install
the
fou
r
screws
and Tinnerman fasteners.
Tighten
screws securely.
If
the coupling connector
wa
s
removed
from
the
motor shaft for any reason,
hold the blower
wheel and install
the
new con-
nector on the threaded end of the
motor shaft.
Tighten connector on shaft finger
tight.
Position
coupling
between shoulders of con-
nector
on the motor
shaft,
making
certain
that
the shoulders
of
the
connector fit firmly in the
grooves of the coupling
without distortion
of
the coupling.
It
may
be necessary
to
bend
the
connector shoulders
in
or
out
slightly
until
the
proper fit is obtained. Repeat this
procedure
with
the fuel
pump
coupling connector. After
proper
fit is
obtained,
install
connector
on fuel
pump shaft
finger tight. Position fuel pump as-
sembly over
molar mounting
studs
(top of fuel
pump must
be
in a
general
line
with
lhe
two
wires coming out of the
motor), using exireme
care to guide the
ruel pump coupling connector
shoulders over
the proper grooves in the cou-
pling.
Install the two lockwashers and nuts on
the fuel
pump mounting
studs.
Tighten nuts
securely.
Rotate
blower wheel to
make certain
that ii rotates freely.
Installation
Position the burner
blower and fuel
pump
as-
sembly
in the mounting bracket. The fuel pump
assembly
must
be
in
the
up-right position and
nearest the
fender
splash shield. Install the
mounting bracket clamp
halves, making certain
that
the motor wires are to the right of the
clamp,
as viewed from the front of the vehicle.
Tighten clamp
screw
securely.
Slide the spring type
clamp over
the
burner
blower hose and
install hose
onto
blower
h
ous-
ing and
position
clamp.
Connect
the fuel line from the engine fuel
pump
to
the "inlet"
side of the burner blower
fuel pump. Tighten fitting
securely.
Connect the
fuel line leading to
the
heaier
to
ihe "outlet" side
of the
fuel
pump. Tighten
fit-
ting securely.
Connect
motor ground wire to fender splash
sh ield
and the lead wire to the Wade connector
leading to
the ignition unit. Refer to wiring
diagram,
Figure
3.

CLEANING AND INSPECTION
Cleaninq
Clean the
no?zle
with volatile mineral spirits or
dry cleaning
solvent
and blow oui the metering
hole and
screen
with compressed air.
Clean
the burner and exchanger housing with
volatile
mineral
spirits or
dry
cleaning solvent
and
dry with
compressed
air. If
fuel
line inlet
screen
is noi ihoroughly clean, remove, discard
and
replace
scr
een.
Clean carbon from spark plug porcelain and
electrode.
Inspection
Inspect
thermostat
helix
coil
guard
for distor-
tion. Straighien
if
necessary.
Inspect micro-switch wire terminals for loose
attaching
screws.
Tighten if
necessary.
NOTE:
The
thermostat
assembly has been cali,.
brated at
the factory
in accordance
with
speci-
fied temperatw·es and no attempt should be
?nade
to adjust
01·
alter the mic1·0-switch or the
lJiastic
cam.
Inspect the
heater burner blower motor
mounting bracket rubber pads for
looseness
or
deterioration. Re-cement or replace as necessary.
Inspect fuel pump assembly for cracked
hou s-
ing, loose
screws,
distorted
or cracked
fuel line
fittings. Tighten loose screws
and
replace dam-
aged fuel line fittings.
If
fuel pump housing is
damaged, replace complete assembly. Inspect
fuel pump coupling connector for broken or dis-
tortcd shoulders.
Replace
connectOl· if
necessary.
Inspect
blower wheel for
stripped
threads,
excessively worn
shaft
hole,
a
nd
broken or dis-
torted blades. Repair or
replace as
necessary.
Inspect
blower housing halves for broken
studs,
distortion or other visible damage. Re-
pair or replace
housing
as
necessary.
Inspect
motor mounting to blower housing
brackel for looseness, worn or deteriorated
grommets. Replace damaged
grommets
and
tighten mounting
stud
nuts
evenly, so
as io in-
sure
equal
space
between
blower
wheel and
housing when assembled. If
motor
is burned
out
01'
damaged in any way, the
complete
motor
assembly must be replaced.
Inspect coupling
connector
on end
of motor
