Installing the
Sliding
Glass

Tilt the sliding
glass forward
and
insta
ll through
door
glass
opening.
Install
the shoulder
stud
s,
connect win-
dow regulator
arms
in slots of
sliding
glass
frame and secu
re
with retainer washers.

mounting bracket screws
and install
the
upper
stops.
Installing the

ting Glass
_ Install the
ro-
tating
glass and pivot step
bolt.
Install
door
handle.
DOOR GLASS ADJUSTMENTS
To
adjust the sliding glass fore and
aft,
loosen
the
shoulder
studs
and
move the sliding glass
us!'embly as
required.
Tighten
lock
nuts
after
adj
ustment.
To
move
the
sliding glass
up
or
down, turn
the
shoulder studs
in or out. To tilt
the
glass
in
or
out,
ad just the
two
shoulder
studs on
either
side,
as
necessa
ry,
to control
the
operation. Tighten
lock
nuts after adjustment.
The rotating
glass
can
be moved in
or
out after
loosening
the two
screws
on
the
pivot bearing.
The
r otating
glass cnn
be
moved fore
or
aft,
and up or down after loosening
the
three screws
on
the bracket.
After the
glass
is properly
aligned,
tighten the screws secu rely.

align
the division
bar
on
the
sliding glass
and the
rotating glass,
loosen the
two
screws
on
the
pivot control
track. line up
the
division hal' and
t
ighten
screws
securely.
After
sliding
glass
and
rotating
glass are in-
stalled
and adjustments are
made
as
required,
hook
up
and
install
the
remote
control assembly
and
install
the
outs
ide
belt line
moulding. Posi-
tion the
glass lower
sto ps an
d secure
with
screws.
Install
trim
panel and door hardware.
Connect
the battery.
REPLACEMENT OF DOOR GLASS
OUTSIDE MOULDING AND
W
EATHERSTRIP (FRONT
DOOR)
Remove door
hardwnre
and
trim panel. Loosen
down
stop
mounting
screws
<lnd
lower the down
stops.
Lower
the window
glass
as far as it win
go.
Remove the outside belt line moulding
at-
taching
screws
nnd the moulding.
Remove the
moulding
suppor
t
and weHtherstrip
to
door with
attaching screws
nnd in;:;tall
outside
belt line
moulding, tightening
the attaching screws
se-
curely. Raise the window,
place the down
stops
position
and
tighten
mounting
screws securely.
Install
trim
panel and
door
hardware.

ASSEMBLY
Re
moval and Installation
These
procedures are
essentially
the
same
as
those
for
1955 Models,
except
that the outside
belt line moulding
must
be removed to expose
the
outer
vent
wing
attaching
bolt.
Also,
remove
the
nut on insi
de of door
under
weather
strip
and the
screws
on the inside door reinforcement.
TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY (ALL MODELS)
This
assembly consists
of a
plate and three indi-
vidual units.
T
he
top unit
comprises
the
tail
light, stop light and directional
signal
light ; the
center
unit
is
the back-up
light,
and the bottom
unit
consists
of a
reflector
and another
tail
light.
Each unit is
attached
to the plate of the tail
light assembly
by two
scr
ews
(accessible inside
luggage compa rtment). The plnte is attached
to
the
fender by five
screws.
Th
e
four
screws
in
the
flat base are
accessible
inside
the
luggage
co
mpartment.
The
other
screw
at
the
upper
peak of the assembly is
accessible
from
outside
the ca
r.
Anyone
of the
three units can be easily
removed for servicing.
Replacement of
Tail Light Assembly Lens es
To
replace a
lens of
a unit o[
the tail
light
as-
sembly, remove
the unit attaching
screws
(ac-
cessible inside
luggage compartment).
Pull unit
from plate (from outside
ca
r, Figure 11)
,
re-
move
lens and replace. Lens
is
attached to
as-
sembly frame with attaching screws.
The deck lid
on
the
1956
Models are aligned
and
adjusted
as
outlined
in the
1955
D-15431
Shop
Manual.
