connector as necessary.

ible
damage
or
deterioration.
Replace if necessary.
Inspect heater
burner blower to
burner
and
exchanger
housing flexible
hose, grommet
and
clamp for deterioration or other visible damage.
Replace
hose with grommet
if
necessary.
Re-
place clamp if
necessa
ry.
NOTE: The
ignition unit
CL8sentbly
U
a sealed
unit
and
should
not be disassembled.
If
inspec-
tion or tests
indicate
the
unit to
be
faulty,
re-
place
the
assembly.
Inspect
heater case lower half for distortion,
broken ' .... elds or other visible damage.
Repair
as
necessary.
Inspect
heat exchanger assembly for broken
seams,
broken
welds,
distortion or other visible
damage. Repair or replace heat exchanger
as
necessary.
Inspect
louver plate and mixer assembly for
loose rivets broken
grou
nd
electrode, distortion,
or loose bame plate.
Repair
or
r
eplace as nec-
essary.
Inspect
burner and exchanger housing for
cracks,
r
estricted fuel inlet
screen,
broken
or
distorted
spark
plug
gasket seating surfaces,
loose
or missing heater blower air
metering
hole
plug,
or damaged
hou
sing threads.
If
in-
spection
reveals housing is
not
fit
for further
service, replace
the assembly.
Check nozzle
for
restricted metering
hole,
plugged screen
or damaged threads. Blowout
metering hole with a limited amount of air
pres-
sure. Blowout screen.
Ii
other visible
damage
is evident,
replace
the
nozzle.
Inspect
the spark
plug
and gaskets.
Inspect
spark
plug
for cracked
porcelain, broken
or
ex-
cessively
burnt
electrode.
Replace
spark
plug
and
gaskets
if
necessa
ry.
Inspect spark
plug cap
for cracks
or distor-
tion.
Replace
cap if necessary.
Inspect
fuel line inlet fitting for distortion or
damaged
threads. Replace fitting if
either
of
these
conditions
exist.
Inspect fuel valve
coil
for
loose, broken
ter-
minals
or
other visible
damage. Replace
coil
and
retainer
gasket if
any
of these
condit
ons
exist.

Inspect coil retainer cover
for
corrosion or
loose terminal
rivets.
Correct as necessary.
Inspect burner and exchanger assembly to
heat
exchanger clamp assembly for broken
welds, cracks
or
other visible damage.
Replace
clamp
assembly
if
necesary.
Inspect
burner and exchanger
assembly to
heat exchanger
gasket
for
deterioration or
other
visible damage. Replace
gasket as nec-
essary.
Inspect
the
overheat
switch
located in
the
upper half of the heater
case
for
broken porce-
lain, burned or broken wiring, loose
or
broken
contact points, or other
visible
damage.
If
the
wire connections are loose at the overheat
switch, correct
by soldering.
If
any
of
the
other
conditions
exist,
replace the
overheat switch as-
sembly
by first un
soldering
the one white wire
at the capacitor
(condenser),
disengage both
wi reo:. from under the cover clip,
then
remove
the two overheat
switch
attaching
screws and
remove the overheat
switch
assembly
with
wires.
If
the capacitor (condenser) is to
be re-
placed,
umolder
the
two wires at the terminal
block
in the
cover
and remove the capacitor.
Replace the damaged parts with new ones
and
install by reversing the above procedure.
I
nspect the
burner
blower metering port plug
grommet for deterioration
or other
visible dam-
age.
Replace
grommet
as
necessary.
TESTING HEATER SYSTEM
AND COMPONENTS
Where the heating
system is
not functioning
properly (insufficient
01'
no hellt) the cause
will
be found in either the electrical
or
fuel systems
or a
combination
of both
systems.
Simple pro-
cedures
for isolating the
causes of
the trouble
and the methods of correcting
t
he
same
are as
follows:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Turn
the ignition, temperature control and
the
blower
switches to the
"ON"
position.
Refer
to the wiring diagram, Figure
3;
with
the aid
of
a 12-volt
test
lamp check the continuity of
the electrical
circuit
as follows: Connect one
lead
of
the test lamp
to
a good ground and touch
the remaining lead at
each of the alphabetically
