    Keep the tamper-proof seal on a mounting screw on the chassis cover intact. If you tear off the tamper-proof seal, switch shall not be guarantee applying. If you tear off the tamper-proof seal and open the chassis, NEC shall not be liable for any consequence caused thereby.

    Installing the switch in a 19-inch rack 3.1.1 Installation prerequisites The rack depth for the QX-S6648XP-6Q is a maximum of 600.5 mm so that the rack door can be closed easily. The rack depth for the QX-S6648XT-6Q is a maximum of 657.5 mm so that the rack door can be closed easily.

    3 Installing the switch I. Attaching the mounting brackets and chassis rails to the chassis For QX-S6648XP-6Q and QX-S6648XT-6Q, four screws are required for install a mounting bracket at the port side. For QX-S6632QP, three screws are required. To attach the mounting brackets and chassis rails to the switch chassis: Align the mounting brackets with the screw holes in the rear mounting position (see Figure 3-8) or front mounting position (see Figure 3-9).

    3 Installing the switch  NOTE: NEC recommends that you use the primary grounding point or auxiliary grounding point 1 because the  grounding cable and grounding screw that come with the switch are suitable only for these two grounding points.

Install cage nuts (user-supplied) in the mounting holes in the rack posts. Align the screw holes in one slide rail with the cage nuts in the rack post on one side, and use screws (user supplied) to attach the slide rail to the rack, as shown in Figure 3-10.

Work with another person to slide the chassis rails along the slide rails until the mounting brackets are flush with the rack posts.

The power input end of the switch has a noise filter, whose central ground is directly connected to the chassis to form the chassis ground (commonly known as PGND).

    Installing/removing a fan tray CAUTION: QX-S6648XP-6Q requires three same direction air flow fan trays to function properly. QX-S6648XT-6Q requires five same direction air flow fan trays to function properly. QX-S6632QP requires two same direction air flow fan trays to function properly.

    For QX-S6632QP, if both fan trays fail during the switch operation, replace the fan trays within two minutes  one by one. For QX-S6648XP-6Q or QX-S6648XT-6Q, if more than one fan tray fail during the switch operation,  replace the faulty fan trays one by one and finish replacing a fan tray within three minutes.

    QX-S6632QP come with the power module slots empty and filler panels for the power module slots as accessories. QX-S6648XP-6Q and QX-S6648XT-6Q come with power module slot 1 empty and a filler panel installed in power module slot 2. For more information about the power modules available for the switches, see "Hot swappable power modules".

    Installation Guide QX-S6600 Series Ethernet Switches 3 Installing the switch 3.4.1 Installing a power module CAUTION: Follow the forward inertia of the power module when inserting it into the chassis, and make sure the power  module has firm contact with the connectors on the backplane. To prevent damage to the connectors inside the switch chassis, insert the power module gently.

If the switch has only one power module, removing the power module powers off the switch.

    Installation Guide QX-S6600 Series Ethernet Switches 3 Installing the switch Squeeze the tabs on the power cord connector with your thumb and forefinger, and pull the connector out to remove the power cord, as shown in Figure 3-21. Hold the handle on the power module with one hand, pivot the latch on the power module to the right with your thumb, and pull the power module part way out of the slot, as shown in Figure 3-22.
