Local Log Table-Only Faults
The following faults appear only in the local log table of the PNC module. They have an Entry Type
of Local Fault, when viewed using the Command Line Interface log details command. The Local Log
Table also contains the faults that are reported to the RX3i CPU. Those faults, which are listed later
in this chapter, are not repeated here.

Cause
The PNC has experienced a restart.
Possible causes include:
PNC power-cycled
PNC reset button pushed
PNC command shell command to reset
board issued
PNC F/W updated
PNC exceeded safe operating
temperature
H/W watchdog timer expired
Internal fatal error encountered
The reason for the reset is indicated by the
description shown when displaying the fault.
The PNC was unable to synchronize its
current time with the RX3i controller.
PNC encountered an error related to
applying Media Redundancy configuration
parameters.
PNC was unable to close an opened OS
socket.
PNC encountered a null pointer while
processing a command via the CLI.
PNC encountered an error while processing
an Ethernet related command.
PNC encountered an error while processing
a PNC-specific CLI command.
The Command Line Interface functionality
on the PNC failed to initialize correctly.
The PNC failed to write data to nonvolatile
memory, which could result from
configuration store/clear operations from the
programmer, or Command Line Interface
commands.
The PNC has received a Return of
Submodule PROFINET alarm from a
PROFINET device.
The PNC received a negative
acknowledgement while attempting to re-
configure a PROFINET submodule that had
been plugged back in to a device.
Recommended
Correction
If the restart is due to a H/W
watchdog timer expiration, or
internal fatal error, note the fault
extra data and contact customer
service.
