3. BLEEDING THE BRAKE SYSTEM OF
FRONT DRIVING AXLE
Before bleeding of this system, it is al-
ways necessary to bleed the trailer con-
trol valve according to point "1. Bleeding
the main brake valve for trailers" and
this must be done even in the case that
air trailer brakes are not installed.
Bleed the system at the operating air
pressure of 730±20 kPa.
ADJUSTMENT
E760
Bleed the system in the following way:
1. Check the brake fluid level in the brake fluid equalizing tank. Add the missing
volume of the brake fluid into the brake fluid tank up to the maximum level.
2. Remove plastic caps from bleeder screws of front driving axle brakes (the screws
are located on upper surfaces of reductions).
3. Slide hoses (1) on bleeder screws and put the other hose ends at the bottom of a
transparent bowl partially filled with the brake fluid. Place the bowl minimally 300
mm above bleeder screws (2). The bleeder screws must be permanently under
pressure to avoid aerating of the brake system through the screw threads.
4. Bleed the left and right brake simultaneously.
5. Loosen the bleeder screws maximum by 1/4 turn.
6. Fully depress the latched brake pedals and tighten the bleeder screws.
7. Release the brake pedals and repeat the whole procedure, until air bubbles cease
escaping from the hose.
8. After bleeding of the front driving axle brake system, tighten the bleeder screws to
torque of 0.8 - 1.2 Nm (3).
