Chapter 10: Recording
This chapter describes the basics of audio and
MIDI recording in Pro Tools with Control 24.
General Control 24
Techniques
If you want to work fast, smoothly, and effi-
ciently, you should acquaint yourself with the
idea of executing familiar Pro Tools functions
from Control 24—instead of the mouse and
keyboard—whenever possible.
Control 24 often gives you multiple options for
workflow. You will find that many of the redun-
dancies designed into this console will help you
develop more efficient ways of working.
Starting the Recording
Process
Before you start your first recording pass with
Control 24, make sure you have configured the
sample rate and other Session Setup parameters.
Press STATUS (in the WINDOWS section) to dis-
play the Session Setup window on-screen. Refer
to the Pro Tools Reference Guide for details about
these parameters.
Make sure you have also followed all the other
instructions for recording in the Pro Tools Refer-
ence Guide (Disk Allocation, MIDI Metro-
nome/Click, Countoff, and other preparation
procedures).
