Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)

CHECK POWER SUPPLY TO PURGE CON-
TROL SOLENOID VALVE.
1)Connect the connector to engine control
module (ECM).
2)Turn the ignition switch to ON.
3)Measure the voltage between purge control
solenoid valve and engine ground.
Connector & terminal
(E4) No. 1 (+) — Engine ground ( − − − − ):

CHECK POOR CONTACT.
Check poor contact in purge control solenoid
valve connector.
Is the voltage more than 10 V? Go to step 7.
Is there poor contact in purge
control solenoid valve connec-
tor?

Check
Repair the poor
contact in purge
control solenoid
valve connector.
Yes
No
Repair the har-
ness and connec-
tor.
NOTE:
In this case, repair
the following:
• Open circuit in
harness between
main relay and
purge control sole-
noid valve connec-
tor
• Poor contact in
main relay connec-
tor
• Poor contact in
coupling connector
(B22)
Contact with your
SUBARU distribu-
tor service.
NOTE:
Inspection by your
SUBARU distribu-
tor service is re-
quired,
because
probable cause is
deterioration
multiple parts.
