Diagnostic tools overview
The following tools are available to help you identify and resolve hardware-related
problems:
v POST beep codes
v Diagnostic programs and error messages
v Troubleshooting chart
v Customized support page
Power-on self-test (POST)
When you turn on the computer, the Power On Self-Test (POST) performs a series
of tests to check the operation of system components and some of the installed
options.
If POST finishes without detecting any problems, the first window of your operating
system or application program appears.
If POST detects a problem, more than one beep sounds and an error message
appears on your screen.

The power-on self-test (POST) beep codes indicate the detection of a problem.
See "Power-on self-test (POST)" for more details.
The diagnostic programs are provided on the Device Drivers and IBM Enhanced
Diagnostics CD. These programs test the major components of your computer.
Note: See the User's Guide on the IBM IntelliStation Documentation CD for
more detailed information about the diagnostic programs.
This chart lists problem symptoms and steps to correct the problem. See
"Troubleshooting chart" on page 49 for more information.
You can create a customized support page on the World Wide Web that is
specific to your hardware, including frequently asked questions, parts information,
technical hints and tips, and downloadable files. In addition, you can choose to
receive electronic mail (e-mail) notifications whenever new information becomes
available about your registered products.
After you register and profile your IntelliStation E Pro computer, you can
diagnose problems using the IBM Online Assistant, and you can participate in the
IBM discussion forum. For more detailed information about registering and
