Direct Current Warnings

It is important that excellent coupling be maintained any time current is flowing. Increased resistance from poor coupling or
excessive current density can cause skin reactions.
• Electrodes must be attached and probe placed in contact with the patient's skin prior to starting the treatment.
• Direct Current tends to lower surface sensory perception as the treatment proceeds. The patient must have good
sensory perception if Direct Current is to be used.
