Step Cause
1 CN4 on the digital
board unit is
disconnected.
2 CN3 on the motor
junction board is
disconnected.
3 CN2 on the motor
junction board is
disconnected
4 The preview motor is
defective.
5 The digital board unit is
defective.

Is CN4 on the digital board unit
disconnected?
Is CN3 on the motor junction board
disconnected?
Is CN2 on the motor junction board
disconnected?
Disconnect the CN4 on the digital board
unit then detach the following main
scan motor connector terminal by
multimeter with resistance measuring
range.
Pin 4 and Pin 8
Pin 5 and Pin 9
Is the motor coil resistance value
APPROX. 83 ohms?
If the motor coil is opened, check the
preview motor drive circuit on the digital
board unit as follows:
a) Adjust the multimeter with
resistance measuring range.
b) Turn the scanner power off.
c) Detach the (-) terminal of the
multimeter on CN4 pins 4,5,8, and 9
of the digital board unit.
d) Detach the (+) terminal of the
multimeter on CN3 (GND) of the
digital board unit.
Does the multimeter detect "∞"?

No Replace the
