Guidelines
How
you
load cargo is as important as bow much weight you
carry. Improper loading can affect handling and stability. When
carrying a passenger or cargo, follow the guidelines that
follow, and never exceed 80 mph (128 kmIh).
• Place weight as low and close to the center of your
motorcycle as possible (heavy items in the saddlebags,
lighter items in the travel trunk).
• Balance weight evenly on roth sides.
• Make sure aU cargo compartments are securely closed.
• Check tire inflation and increase rear tire pressure to the
recommended maximum pressure (page 51) if your
total
load
(rider, passenger, all cargo and accessories) exceeds 200 Ibs
(90 kg).
• Check front (U.S. SE, ASP) and rear suspension settings if
you change your normal load.
• Check the headlight beam adjustment
if
you change your
normal load.
• Never exceed any of the maximum weighllimits shown in
Load Limits
(page 33).
