Is Your Motorcycle Ready to Ride?
Pre-rid.

Check the following items every day before you ride:
TIres
Leaks,
Loose
Parts
Fluids
Throttle
Brakes
Indicators
Gauges
Lights
Look at the tires.
If
a tire appears low, use an
air pressure gauge to check its pressure. Also
look for signs of damage or excessive wear
(page
136).
Walk around your motorcycle and look for
anything that appears unusual, such as a leak
or loose cable.
Check the levels of the engine oil (page 109),
coolant (page 115), brake fluid (page 124), and
battery electrolyte (page 144). Add fluid as
needed.
Rotate the throttle to check that it moves
smoothly without binding.
Pull the brake lever and depress the brake
pedal to check they operate normally.
Tum the ignition on. Make sure the indicator
lights are working properly (see Lamp Check,
page
13).
Check the fuel level and the other gauges
(page
13).
Check that all lights are operating properly.
