Battery
Before you remove the battery,
be
sure to read all the
information that follows, as well as the information on the
banery label. Also read the instructions that came with your
battery charger.
AWARNING
A battery can explode
if
you do not
follow the correct procedure,
seriously injuring anyone nearby.
Keep all sparks, open flames, and
smoking materials away from the
battery.
I. Remove your bauery.
2. Check the electrolyte level. Add distilled water to any ceUs
that are below the UPPER level.
3. Charge the battery (see following section), unless you have
been riding regularly.
4. Store your banery in an easy-to--reach location off the floor,
in an area prOlected from freezing temperatures and direct
sunlight.
5. Clean
the
bauery box after removing the battery for storage.
First, neutralize any acid spills
with
baking soda, then rinse
with
clean
water. Dry the battery box and, if paint is missing,
re-paint the area.
6. Check the electrolyte level and slow charge the battery (see
following section) once every 30 days.
