Introduction - motion detector
MZ 5000 motion detector
The MZ 5000 motion detector is a passive infrared motion detector. It
detects movements from heat sources (positive and negative ones) that
stand out from the ambient temperature.
The detection system is activated if the (passive) detection beams of
the motion detector are intersected by unprotected parts of the body—
such as the head (the head is the greatest source of heat loss from the
body) or hands—making tangential movements around the motion
detector (moving in a semi-circle around the motion detector).
The length of time the light should remain on (Time 1) after the last
movement has been detected can be set on the motion detector.
The MZ 5000 is equipped with a range stabilisation function, which
ensures that even during poor weather conditions, an acceptable
detection range can be maintained.
Faulty operations are suppressed to prevent the light from being
activated by interferences from movements caused by the wind and
trees blowing in the wind.
Despite technical advances, the geometric and physical laws cannot be
overcome. If a motion detector is installed too high up, it always will
seriously impact the coverage and detection quality.
Faulty operation cannot be completely ruled out.
Heat sources (i.e. light or heating) must therefore not be located below
the detector or in the immediate vicinity of the coverage area as this
can cause permanent faulty operation.
Lights must therefore always be installed above the detector (heat
rises). If lights are operated at the same height or to the side of the
detector, then a minimum distance of 2 m should be maintained.
