Warning.
Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) such as
gloves and eye protection are worn during any
maintenance and that any spillages are cleaned-up
using clean water.
To familiarize yourself with handling precautions,
dangers and emergency procedures, always review
the Material Safety Data Sheets prior to handling
containers, reservoirs, and delivery systems that
contain chemical reagents and standards.
Take care if cleaning any spillages and observe all
relevant safety instructions – see Section 1, page 3.
Clean the analyzer using a damp cloth only; mild
detergent can be used as a cleaning aid. Do not use
Acetone or any organic solvents.
Isolate electrical components before maintenance or
cleaning.
Observe all health and safety procedures for handling
chemicals – see Section 1, page 3.
Note. Due to the specialized nature of this type of analyzer,
maintenance must be performed only by qualified
personnel. Training can be provided by the Company via a
network of local or overseas agents, or may be performed
on the users' premises.

8.1 Scheduled Maintenance

8.1.1 Chemical Solutions

Reagent, calibration and cleaning solutions are necessary to
maintain the analyzer in operation. Use the bottles supplied. If
solutions are stored, keep them in polythene bottles with tightly
fitting tops.
Caution. Avoid contamination of the solutions.
When replacing solutions, the reagent and standard
solution bottles must be emptied and rinsed with high
purity water before re-filling.
Do not top solution bottles up, always refill them.
Bottle tops must be fitted to keep out dust (dust can
be a source of silica).
Analyzer performance relies heavily on the integrity of
these solutions, so it is very important to prepare,
store and handle them with care.
Take care when storing the bottles. Ensure they are date
stamped, used in strict rotation and not used after the expiry
date. Take care to avoid spillages if solutions are transferred
from bulk containers to the analyzer's own bottles. Any spillages
must be diluted with water and flushed to drain.
For information about reagent solutions refer to Appendix A,
page 64.
