Adjusting the Aperture
You can affect the brightness of your recordings or change the depth of field by adjusting the aperture.
By default, the camera is set to manual aperture but, depending on the lens used, the camera offers 3 ways to

adjust the aperture. Refer to the list of compatible lenses and functions that can be used (A 213).
Manual aperture: Adjust the aperture value manually using the control dial on the camera or on the camera grip
or remotely, using Browser Remote on a connected network device (A 158).
Push Auto Iris: Momentary automatic aperture. During manual aperture, press the PUSH AUTO IRIS button or
use Browser Remote (A 158) to temporarily adjust the aperture automatically.
Automatic aperture: The camera adjusts the aperture automatically.

Required settings on EF Cinema lenses
To adjust the aperture from the camera, you will need to enable automatic adjustment using the controls on the
lens. Required settings vary depending on the lens. Refer to the following table and the instruction manual of the
lens used.

Manual Aperture
You can adjust the aperture value of an EF lens using the control dial on the camera or the camera grip. You can
select the function assigned to each control dial independently.
By default, both control dials' function is set to aperture control. If it has been changed, follow the procedure
below to set in advance the function of one of the control dials to [Iris].
Assigning aperture control to a control dial
1 Open the [Camera Ctrl Dial] (control dial on the camera) or [Camera Grip Ctrl Dial] (control dial on the camera
grip) submenu.
> [B $ System Setup] > [Camera Ctrl Dial] or [Camera Grip Ctrl Dial]
2 Select [Iris] and then press the joystick.
