The Replacement Process
Remove all ink cartridges from your printer's ink bay.
Press <MENU> again and Maintenance followed by Start Up Fill. Select to Fill CMYK WW ink
lines.
Once inside of the ink fill menu, choose long. Open the lid to see the white ink exit the ink tubes.
It will take several of these long fills to completely empty the white lines of white ink. Do at least
3 long fills. If ink is still visible in the purge lines after three fills, continue until the lines are
empty. The Purge lines go to the BACK of the white print head. The print lines go to the FRONT
of the print head.
After flushing the ink system, install all six cleaning fluid cartridges into the printer and once
again select CMYKWW Lines. Fill for one long fill and one short fill. Additional fills may be
required if the print lines are not completely filled with cleaning solution.
Continue running the fills until the purge and print lines are crystal clear. The Ricoh authorized
cleaning solution is clear and the ink does not stain the tubes so lines which have been flushed
thoroughly are completely transparent.
Once the flush is complete, go through the weekly maintenance routine. Clean the nozzle plate,
the rubber seals on the maintenance station and wiper blade. Then, print a nozzle check onto a
piece of paper. The nozzle check should print clear without any tint of color. If you see ink still in
the nozzle check, continue flushing until the nozzle check prints clear.

6: Waste Ink Tank and Drip Absorbers

Emptying the Waste Ink Tank
The printer's waste inks are collected in the Waste Ink Tank, located at the inside back right of the
printer. When it needs to be emptied a message will appear on the display when you send a print job or
Print Head clean. (Figure 9.6-1). At this time, you may select No and empty it then or select Yes and
empty the tank later. Waste ink is emptied through the Waste Ink Drain on the back of the printer.
