CAMSHAFT
• Turn the crankshaft clockwise with the box wrench and align
the line " on the starter clutch with the index mark # of valve
timing inspection hole while keeping the cam chain pulled
upward.
Pull the cam chain upward, or the chain will be caught
between crankcase and cam drive sprocket.
To adjust the camshaft timing correctly, be sure to
align the line " with the index mark # and hold this
position when installing the camshafts.
• The camshafts are identified by the embossed letters.
• Before replacing the camshafts on cylinder head, apply
MOLYBDENUM OIL SOLUTION to their journals and cam
faces.
• Apply a MOLYBDENUM OIL SOLUTION to the camshaft jour-
nal holders.

NOTE:
Before installing the camshaft, check that the tappets are
installed correctly.
