PAD Interface

If the MAGIC AE1 DAB+ Audio Encoder is connected to the MAGIC DAB MUX Mul-
tiplexer, PAD
The data insertion works dynamically: If data is available the audio bit rate
will be reduced automatically according to the PAD bit rate. Otherwise the
full frame is used for audio.

General
• Under PAD Interface you will see that MUXENC is displayed when the
Encoder is connected to the MAGIC DAB MUX Multiplexer. PAD can be trans-
mitted using the MUXENC protocol from the Multiplexer to the Audio En-
coder.
• Under PAD Alarm Timeout a threshold value can be defined. If no PAD is
received or inserted during the defined time frame, PAD alarms will be set
(see Page 80).
Alternatively, you can enable the PAD Insertion from an external PAD in-
serter. The standard settings are compliant to the synchronous frame mode of
the IRT Recommendation.
To enable the PAD transmission you must select your PAD Interface. The
available options are:
– OFF
– ON - using RS232
– ON - using UDP
– ON - using UDP (with redundancy)
