Recording audio from a
connected component
Making a digital recording
from a digital component
The Serial Copy Management system (page 86)
may prevent you from making a digital
recording of certain material. In this case,
connect the component to ANALOG IN jacks
and make an analog recording.

Connect the digital optical cable.

Start recording manually.
See "Recording on an MD manually" (page
41) or "Recording on a tape manually"
(page 65).
Tips
• You can activate Time Machine Recording (page
42) and Smart Space/Auto Cut functions (page 45).
• You can adjust the recording level when recording
on an MD (page 45).
Making an analog recording
from an analog component

Connect the audio cords.

Start recording manually.
See "Recording on an MD manually" (page
41) or "Recording on a tape manually"
(page 65).
Recording on a connected
component
1
Connect the digital optical cable.
2
Start recording.
Refer to the operating instructions provided
with connected component.
Note
You can digitally record from the discs only.
However, you cannot record from copy prohibited
discs.
