4. CHECKING, DISASSEMBLING AND SERVICING

[1] CHECKING AND ADJUSTING

Toe-in
1. Inflate the tires to the specified pressure.
2. Turn the front wheels straight ahead.
3. Measure the toe-in (B-A).
4. If the measurement is not within the factory specifications, adjust
the tie-rod length.
Toe-in (B-A)
Factory spec.
(A) Wheel to Wheel Distance at Front
(B) Wheel to Wheel Distance at Rear
Toe-in Adjusting
1. Loosen the lock nuts (1).
2. Turn the tie-rod (2) until to be factory specification.
3. Tighten the lock nuts (1).
(1) Lock Nut
Front Axle Rocking Force
1. Jack up the front side of tractor and remove the front wheel.
2. Set a spring balance to the front gear case cover.
3. Measure the front axle rocking force.
4. If the measurement is not within the factory specifications, adjust
as following.
Adjusting procedure
1. Remove the cotter pin (2).
2. Tighten or loosen the adjusting nut (1) so that the measurement
of rocking force comes to factory specifications.
3. If the slot and pin hole do not meet, align the nut until they do
meet within factory specifications.
4. Install the new cotter pin.
(When reassembling)
• Be sure to split the cotter pin like an anchor.
(Reference)
• Tightening torque of adjusting nut:
19.6 N·m (2.0 kgf·m, 14.5 ft-lbs)
