TRAINING CHECKLIST

Use this checklist to train FP 1000 operators. Duplicate, as needed.
Note: Not all items are appropriate for all users. Mark NA for items that are not required for a
specific user.

General

Describe the intended use of the instrument.

Demonstrate how to use the Help system on the instrument workstation.

Demonstrate how to view and print the operator manuals from the instrument workstation.
B
Demonstrate how to view and print the operator manuals from the Operator Manuals CD-ROM.

Describe how to order the optional printed versions of the operator manuals.

Instrument Components

Identify and locate the main components of the instrument.

Identify the different types of racks.
B
Identify the different types of cassettes and specimen tube adaptors.
B
Describe the cassette bar-code system.
B
Demonstrate how to apply a bar-code label to a cassette.
B
Describe the carousel bar-code system.
B
Identify the FP 1000 carousel (reflective disk on underside).
B
Differentiate between the carousel used for polypropylene tubes and the one used for polystyrene

tubes.
Demonstrate how to properly open the carousel drawer and carousel doors.

Explain the importance of waiting at least 10 seconds after you turn the FP 1000 power switch off

before you turn it back on again.

Daily Procedures

Review the start-up procedures and how to inspect the sample probe for normal and abnormal

wear.
Review how to check for network connectivity and system configuration (external order file

paths).
Review the shutdown procedures.

Review how to store all reagents, controls, and calibrators after use per their package labeling.
