Troubleshooting W-CDMA Measurements

This section lists common problems that you may encounter when making
W-CDMA measurements, plus the cause of and fix for each problem.
Problem/Cause
Unable to demodulate W-CDMA Signal
ü For [
], Perch 1 signal
trial 1998 forward link
not present or signal level too low.
ü For [
], Perch signal with
ARIB rev 1.0-1.2
first search code not present or signal level
too low.
ü For [
], PSCH or
3GPP 1999 forward link
CPICH are missing or too low.
ü W-CDMA signal is frequency inverted.
ü Frequency span is too narrow.
ü Analyzer's center frequency is too far from
the signal center frequency.
ü Too many active channels.
ü Incorrect scramble code specified.
ü Several base stations are transmitting and
the analyzer is using the Perch channel
from the wrong base station (the analyzer
selects the base station with the highest
Perch signal level).
ü Code group selected and wrong group
number specified.

Solution
Verify that signal includes Perch 1 and that the Perch
signal level is adequate.
Verify that signal includes Perch with the first search
code and that the signal level of each is adequate.
Verify that signal includes PSCH and CPICH and that
the signal level of each is adequate.
