Chapter 2
Scanning a Document
File Type displays the various file formats that you can save scanned images in.
The following four file types matched to the mode that you are scanning the
HINT
document in are displayed:
TIFF (*.tif), BMP (*.bmp), JBIG (*.jbg), JPEG (*.jpg)
When TIFF is selected, the image spread over several scanned pages (including
scanning in the Duplex mode) is saved as a single file.
MEMO
When you select the BMP, JPEG or JBIG format, each of the pages in the
document are saved as separate files in the folder specified as the save
destination. Files comprise the name to which the first image is specified, and a
running number "0001", "0002" and so forth is automatically appended to
subsequent files. (For example, let's assume that pages are saved in BMP format
to the file name "scan.bmp". The files "scan.bmp", "scan0001.bmp",
"scan0002.bmp" and so forth are created.)
When files are separated using the Auto New File function or File Separator Sheet,
folders appended with a running number ("0001", "0002" and so forth) are
automatically created after each file separation, and images are saved to files in
these folders.
