Basic Faxing

You can send a fax in one of four ways:
• Fax/Embedded Fax: This option scans the document, then sends it directly to a fax machine. For
details, see Sending an Embedded Fax
• Server Fax : This option scans the document, then sends it to a fax server, which transmits the
document to a fax machine. For details, see
• Internet Fax : This option scans the document, then emails it to a recipient. For details, see
an Internet Fax on page 175.
• LAN Fax : This option sends the current print job as a fax. For details, see
page 184.

Sending a Server Fax
• Lift the document feeder cover and place the
first page face down in the upper left corner of
the document glass.
• Align the originals to the matching paper size
printed on the edge of the glass.
• The document glass accepts paper sizes up to
297 x 432 mm (11.7 x 17 in.).
• The document glass automatically detects
standard paper sizes.
