dV/dt OUTPUT FILTERS

dV/dt output filters are used to limit the voltage rate of rise to less than 500V/micro-second as well as
the peak voltage at the motor connection terminals.
The dV/dt output filter limits the peak motor terminal voltage to 1000V for motor cable lengths up to
150m.
Standard Siemens motors, which are rated for a supply voltage up to 500V, generally do not require
the installation of a dV/dt output filter.
Fitting a dV/dt output filter to the inverter output terminals is recommended when the mains supply
voltage is (or exceeds) 575V or the insulation strength or condition of the motor is not known (e.g.
retro-fitting inverters to older used motors).
For dV/dt filters the output switching frequency must be limited to 2kHz.
