Replacing the front audio and USB 3.0 assembly

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the front audio and USB 3.0 assembly, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 88.
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 88.
4. Remove the optical drive. See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 91.
5. Pivot the drive bay assembly upward. See "Pivoting the drive bay assembly upward and downward"
on page 93.
6. Locate the front audio and USB 3.0 assembly. See "Computer components" on page 32.
7. Disconnect the front audio and USB 3.0 assembly cables from the system board.
8. Remove the screw that secures the front audio and USB 3.0 assembly, and then pull the assembly
out of the chassis.

9. Route the new front audio and USB 3.0 assembly cables through the corresponding hole and connect
them to the system board. See "Parts on the system board" on page 37.
