Replacing the USB 2.0 assembly

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the USB 2.0 assembly, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 88.
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 88.
4. Remove the optical drive. See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 91.
5. Pivot the drive bay assembly upward. See "Pivoting the drive bay assembly upward and downward"
on page 93.
6. Locate the USB 2.0 assembly. See "Computer components" on page 32.
7. Disconnect the USB 2.0 assembly cable from the system board.
8. Remove the screw that secures the card reader and USB 2.0 assembly bracket, and then pull the
bracket out to access the USB 2.0 assembly.

9. Remove the two screws that secure the USB 2.0 assembly, and then remove the USB 2.0 assembly
from the card reader and USB 2.0 assembly bracket.
