2.4.1 Ethernet and Lightning Protection
When installing an AP 7181 root node with a direct connection between the shielded CAT-5E Ethernet and the wired
network, lightning protection should be used on all shielded CAT-5E Ethernet connections.
NOTE
Lightning damage is not covered under the conditions of a standard Motorola Solutions
product warranty. When installed correctly, LPUs provide the best protection from the
harmful effects of lightning. Observe all regional and national codes that apply to
grounding for lightning protection.
