5. Remarks in respect of the determined use
Before starting any work on electrical appliances it must be safeguarded that there are no live
parts in the immediate assembly area of the user. Is this not possible special precaution
measures acc. to EN 50110-1 for working near live parts must be provided.
5.1. Operation of the tool
First you have to select the right top part of the cimping head (Pos.-No 4) for the intended
application.
With the EKP 1 disengage, respectively pull out the locking pins (Pos.-No. 7, picture 3 Pos. E)
completely. The top part of the crimping head (Pos.-No. 4) must be mounted on the bottom part
of the crimping head (Pos.-No. 3) so that the bore holes are aligning. Then the locking pins
must be pushed back into position engaging the head part with the bottom part of the crimping
head.
Insert the connecting material into the top part of the crimping head. The crimping cycle is
started by actuating the trigger (Pos.-No. 1, picture 3 Pos. A). The crimping cycle is
characterized by the closing motion of the dies. In most cases the connector is positioned in the
stationary half of the crimping die whereas the moving part of the crimping die approaches the
compression point.
