Position of the hook and needle

10.3 Setting the needle bar height

Order
First, check the following settings:
• Loop stroke position ( p. 49)
• A straight and undamaged needle must be inserted
Proper setting
Machine locked in place at position 1 and upper stitch length adjusting
wheel set to 0.
 The hook tip is level with the lower third of the groove on the needle.
Disturbances caused by an incorrect needle bar height
• Damage to the hook tip
• Jamming of the needle thread
• Missing stitches
• Thread breaking
• Needle breakage

To set the needle bar height:
1. Lock the machine in place at position 1 ( p. 16).
2. Position the upper stitch length adjusting wheel to 0.
