Inbox

Use Inbox to send and receive e-mail messages in the following ways:
Synchronize e-mail messages with Microsoft Exchange or Outlook on the desktop
computer.
Send and receive e-mail messages by connecting directly to an e-mail server
through an Internet service provider (ISP) or a network.

Synchronizing E-mail Messages

To synchronize e-mail messages, first enable Inbox synchronization in ActiveSync options.
For information on enabling Inbox synchronization, see ActiveSync Help on the desktop
computer.
During synchronization:
E-mail messages are copied from the Inbox folder of Exchange or Outlook on the
desktop computer to the ActiveSync folder on the terminal. By default, messages
are received from the last 3 days only, the first 100 lines of each message, and file
attachments of less than 100 KB in size.
E-mail messages in the Outbox folder on the terminal are transferred to Exchange
or Outlook, then sent from those programs.
E-mail messages in subfolders must be selected in ActiveSync on the desktop
computer to be transferred.
Note: The user can also synchronize e-mail messages with the desktop
computer from a remote location. For more information, see
the Single Slot Serial and Modem Cradles with ActiveSync
4-8.

Connecting Directly to an E-mail Server

The user can also send and receive e-mail messages by connecting to an e-mail server
using a modem or network card connected to the terminal. Set up a remote connection to
a network or an ISP, and a connection to the e-mail server.
When the user connects to the e-mail server, new messages are downloaded to the
terminal Inbox folder, messages in the terminal Outbox folder are sent, and messages that
were deleted on the e-mail server are removed from the terminal Inbox.
