39. Thread two puller bolts into the flywheel; then
with the key installed in the crankshaft, slide the
flywheel onto the crankshaft making sure the key-
ways match. Remove the puller bolts.
NOTE: Before installing the flywheel, be sure to
wipe the crankshaft and flywheel tapers clean
using a clean towel.
40. Apply red Loctite #271 to the threads of the fly-
wheel cap screw; then finger-tighten with a large
flat washer. DO NOT TIGHTEN AT THIS TIME.
41. Place the starter pulley in position; then loosely
secure the starter pulley with three cap screws.
Secure the pulley while using the spanner wrench
and tighten the three cap screws evenly to 19 ft-lb.
42. Using the spanner wrench, tighten the flywheel
cap screw (from step 40) to 50 ft-lb.
Installing Engine
1. With the spacer (A) and related cap screws prop-
erly oriented, install the lower MAG-side and
PTO-side engine brackets to the crankcase; then
install the left-side mounting bracket to the mag-
neto housing and tighten all cap screws (coated
with blue Loctite #243) to 40 ft-lb.

2. Place the engine into the chassis from the MAG-
side; then position the engine to the mounting
locations in the chassis. In order install the rear
PTO-side cap screw (A) and cap screw (B) secur-
ing the upper MAG-side engine bracket to the
chassis. Tighten cap screws only until snug.

3. With the engine mount spacer (E) in place, install
cap screws (C) and (D) securing the front MAG-
side and PTO-side engine mounting brackets to
the chassis.
4. With the mounting hardware installed, tighten the
cap screws (A) through (D) (coated with blue Loc-
tite #243) to 40 ft-lb; then install the torque bum-
per.
5. Install the oil-injection pump cable; then secure
the cable with the nylon washer, E-ring, and jam
