NOTE: At this point if the coolant temperature
sensor was removed, install the sensor (threads
coated with white Loctite #575). Tighten to 18 ft-lb.
NOTE: Use only Arctic Cat High-Temp Sealant to
seal the crankcase halves.
10. Assemble the crankcase halves making sure that the
crankshaft gear and oil-injection pump driveshaft
gears mesh. Rotate the crankshaft one full turn to
align the crankshaft gear and pump driveshaft.
11. Install the crankcase cap screws securing the
crankcase halves.
12. Tighten the 6 mm cap screws to 96 in.-lb and the
ten 10 mm cap screws in two steps from 13 ft-lb to
37 ft-lb using the pattern shown.
NOTE: After tightening the crankcase, turn the
engine right side up and install and tighten the
four MAG-housing cap screws in a crisscross pat-
tern to 18 ft-lb.
NOTE: Secure the connecting rods with rubber
bands on the cylinder studs.
13. Apply a thin coat of grease to the sealing surface
of the oil-injection pump/water pump driveshaft;
then place the Oil Seal Protector Tool (p/n 0644-
219) at the end of the shaft.

Be very careful not to damage the seals when install-
ing the oil pump driveshaft. Be certain to use the seal
protector tool. Twist the driveshaft clockwise as it
enters the seal area and while pushing it through the
seals.

14. Rotate the pump driveshaft while carefully push-
ing it through the pump seals until the driveshaft/
crankcase gears mesh; then remove the protector
tool (A) from the shaft.
15. Position the shim (A) on the oil-injection pump
end of the driveshaft; then with a new O-ring in
place, install the oil-injection pump retainer (B).
