Anti-freeze
The engine coolant contains an ethylene glycol anti-corrosion
agent. The cylinder head and water pump hou si ng are cast
aluminum al loy, and periodic changing of the engine coolant is
necessary to prevent corrosion of th ese parts .
Because of the necessity of this anti-corrosion ag ent. the
coo lant must not be replac ed with plain water even in summer.
The required concentration of anti-freeze differs depending on
the expected ambient t emperat ure.

For effective anti-corrosion and anti-freeze perfor-
mance. keep the anti-fr,eeze concentration within the
ran ge of 30 to 60% .
Concentrations exceeding 60% will result in a reduc-
tion of both the anti-freeze and cooling performance
t hus adversely affecting the engine.
During cold weather
If the temperatures in your area drop below freezing , th ere is th e
dang er that the coolant in th e engine or radiator could freez e
and ca use severe damage to the engine and / or radiator. Add a
suffici en t amount of anti -freeze to th e coo lant to prevent it from
freezing .
Th e engi ne cool ant mi xture used at t he factory provides pro-
tection against fr eez in g for temperatures as low as approxi -
mate ly - 30°C (- 20°F) . Th e co nce ntrati on should be c hecked
before th e s cold weather and an ti- freeze ad ded
to
the
sys tem if
