Possible Cause
The bedknife is incorrectly adjusted.
The edges of the reel or bottom blade are not sharp.
The cut (ground) speed is higher than normal.
The grass is higher than the level at which the ma-
chine can cut correctly.
Cut in the same direction.
Surface damage to the reel or bedknife.

Stragglers are separated blades of grass that are
not cut, or are cut incorrectly.

Adjust reel-to-bedknife setting.
Sharpen or replace the reel blade and bedknife as
necessary.
Decrease the cut (ground) speed.
Cut the grass more frequently.
Change the direction of cut more frequently.
Grind, sharpen or replace the reel blades and bed-
knife as necessary.
