PROCEDURE

1.
Apply a level layer of grinding paste to the full length
of each blade of the reel.
2.
Turn the Reel Speed Control knob (D) in a
counterclockwise direction to allow the reels to rotate
at their slowest speed. See section 6.9. 'Reel Speed
Control'.
3.
Set the backlap lever to position B see section 6.10
to the backlap position.
4.
Start the engine and set the throttle to a low neutral
speed. Turn the cutting unit switch (PTO) to the 'On'
position.
5.
Slowly turn the Reel Speed Control knob (E) in a
clockwise direction to the correct reel rotation speed.
The reel must rotate at a slow speed that will not
remove the grinding paste from the blades.
6.
When all the blades on the reel are sharp, stop the
engine and turn the cutting unit switch to the 'off'
position. Set the backlap switch to the 'OFF' position
and turn the Reel Speed Control knob (E) clockwise.
NOTE
To make sure that the reel rotates correctly make sure that the Reel Speed Control is completely closed.
7.
Clean all of the grinding paste from the blades. When the blades are cleaned and dry, apply a light layer of
oil to the cutting edges to prevent rust.
8.
When complete the backlapping procedure, the reel to bedknife adjustment must be made again.
7.12 TRANSPORTING______________________________________________________
Transport speed is for highway use only. Never select transport speed or 2 wheel drive off road. Transport
in 2 wheel drive only.
Make sure that the cutting units are held in the lifted position with the safety catches engaged.
1.
Start the engine and set the throttle lever to full speed position.
2.
Release the parking brake and after ensuring that the pedal control lever is in the transport position, press
the upper part of the foot pedal. The machine will move in a forward direction.
3.
Continue to push down on the foot until the desired speed of the machine is reached.
The foot should always be kept firmly on the pedal to maintain full control of the drive pedal.
