G700 Troubleshooting
1. Check the settings of the Hyperterminal Program (or the terminal emulation program you are using for
accessing the serial interface). The settings are mentioned in the Installation and Upgrades
documentation. To summarize: Choose the right COM port (Usually it is COM1). Bits per second should
be 9600. Data bits should be 8. Parity should be set to none. Stop bits should be set to 1. Flow control
should be set to None. 2. Check to see if you have the correct cable and cable adapter.
3. If everything is set right with the correct cable and the problem persists, try making a LAN connection,
via EXT1 or EXT2, if the Avaya™ G700 Media Gateway is already configured with IP addresses (as a
work-around).
4. Otherwise, replace the G700.
Escalate the problem.
