A.2 Common network connection problems
When I attempt to connect to my Net2Phone MAX 4 through a serial cable connection, I do not see any
text, or the text that appears is distorted.
Ÿ
Make sure the connection settings are as follows:
Baud rate
Parity
Character size
Stop Bit
Flow Control
Ÿ
Make sure the serial cable is connected and fastened to both the Net2Phone MAX 4 and your
computer.
My network supports DHCP, but my MAX 4 can not obtain correct network settings.

Make sure DHCP is enabled.
Ÿ
Make sure the RJ-45 LAN cable is connected securely to your Net2Phone MAX 4 and LAN,
hub, or router.
Ÿ
Make sure that all network ports, routers, or hubs, are live.
I set DHCP to ON, but my Net2Phone MAX 4 can not obtain correct network settings.

Make sure your network supports DHCP.
Ÿ
Make sure your RJ-45 LAN cable is securely connected to both the MAX 4 and to the LAN,
hub, or router.

Make sure that all network ports, routers, or hubs, are live.
My analog phone does not have a period; how do I enter the periods in my IP Address and Net Mask?

Use the star key (*) in place of the periods.
When I enter a static IP Address into my Net2Phone MAX 4 and restart the unit, the IP Address I
entered is not saved.

Make sure DHCP is set to OFF

If you entered the IP address through an analog phone, make sure you hit the # key before
hanging up.
I changed the login password on my Net2Phone MAX 4 and I forgot the new password.

Login as " manager" or " sysadm." Note that the default password for both is " n2p."
