4N4: Microwave/Convection Oven
This is a conventional unit just as would be found in a home; operate in
the usual way. You can operate it just with the inverter if the boat is underway
or if you only have a short cooking cycle.
4N5: Refrigerators & Freezers
The boat is equipped with two refrigerators and two
freezers with AC power running the compressors, of which
there are two for the four machines. These are all "cold
plate" units: the "cold plates" actually store the cold, and,
when combined with the excellent insulation, each unit's
compressor only needs to run a little each day (1-2 hours)
for it to stay cold, unless you leave the door open a lot.
Leave the "Fridge 1" and "Fridge
2" breakers on in the AC panel,
and normal, twice-a-day generator
use should be adequate for
refrigeration.
Refrigerators: One refrigerator is under the microwave;
another is under the "L" in the galley with a door on the "L's" aft
side.
Freezers: The two deep-freezes are to left of the galley sink and between the long and short
sides of the salon settee in the corner cabinet.
Refrigeration temperatures are controlled by the thermostat in the back of each unit; set as
required after allowing the refrigerator to stabilize for a few hours after loading.
Note: The cold plates are below freezing, so be
careful not to put produce such as lettuce against
the plate; liquids (which disburse the cold) are OK.
Hint: Keep the units full. The contents of a
full unit help to keep it cold when it has to be
opened! You can help this by re-filling
containers such as jugs and water bottles with
water and putting them in the various coolers as
dunnage. This will greatly reduce the amount of
power needed.
There is also a 120V AC chest freezer on the flybridge. It is powered by the
inverter when using house battery power.
